Business co-founders Ellis Goodfellow and Mike Perry were advised by RPG Chartered Accountants in their sale of Manchester based Abacus Cost Management Limited to the Contollo Group Ltd.

Jonathan Brownson led the RPG team which also included Ian Paramor and Amy Taylor.

Jonathan commented: “I am delighted that we were able to support Ellis and Mike to achieve the outcome that they wanted.

“We have advised the Abacus team since their inception, so we were delighted to help them with this exciting stage of their evolution.”

RPG Chartered Accountants, amongst other things, provided transaction support, assisted with financial and tax due diligence, and assisted in the negotiations with the acquirer.  RPG will also prepare and agree the completion accounts.

Ellis Goodfellow commented: “We really valued having the RPG team as our advisers on this deal.

“They have consistently provided first class support over the last 17 years since we started the business and continue to do so.

“Selling a business is very complex and they guided us through the process, providing timely advice, so that we understood everything, each step of the way and the decisions that needed to be taken.”

Abacus is the first business to be acquired by the Knutsford based Contollo Group, a building consultancy, specialising in mechanical, electrical and plumbing consultancy and cost management services, which is backed by private equity firm NorthEdge.

The Abacus team’s Manchester office will be retained and the team will transfer to Contollo where Ellis Goodfellow will become Chief Commercial Officer and Mike Perry will be a Director.

Legal services were provided to Abacus Cost Management by BBS Law.
