We are delighted to send our congratulations to RPG’s Ben Brownson who has been recognised for his outstanding voluntary work by The Jewish Volunteering Network in their Celebration of Volunteering Awards.
Ben Brownson, RPG’s Chief Operating Officer, has been presented with the award for Outstanding Young Adult Volunteer of the Year as part of The JVN’s prestigious awards ceremony held at The Grove Hotel in Hertfordshire, attended by over 400 guests.
Ben was presented with his award in recognition of his 13 years as a volunteer with Maccabi GB.
Ben Brownson commented: “It was an extraordinary honour to be recognised in front of so many incredible people and I felt very humbled to have been given the award. I am very proud of my years of volunteering with Maccabi GB and all that the Charity continues to achieve. I would like to thank all of my fellow volunteers at Maccabi GB, its professional team and the Board of Trustees for their support, mentoring and the opportunities they provide.
“Taking and managing GB’s largest ever golf squad, with players from all age ranges, to the 21st Maccabiah Games, also known as the “Jewish Olympics”, last summer was a source of enormous pride to me. We achieved the best golf results in our history as a delegation.
“I now look forward to the further development of The Jewish Golf Initiative – bringing the enjoyment and camaraderie of golf to even more people.”
Maccabi GB is Britain’s leading Anglo-Jewish sports, health and wellbeing charity and its aim is to provide the Jewish community with diverse sporting, educational and social activities, annually engaging with 50,000 people. Over the last three years Ben has set up the Jewish Golf initiative which is aimed at making golf more diverse, inclusive and accessible, working with some of the key stakeholders in the game including The R&A, England Golf, PGA and The Golf Foundation to name but a few.
Chris Poston, Group Director of RPG Chartered Accountants said: “We are immensely proud of Ben and everything he has achieved at Maccabi GB and within his wider volunteering. We look forward to his involvement over the next few months as we formalise RPG’s own social values.”
The Jewish Volunteering Network’s annual Celebration of Volunteering Awards for 2022 was held on Sunday 15th January 2023. The JVN promotes, connects and supports volunteers from different charities, mainly across the Jewish community, through one-to-one support, opportunities, events and training programmes. 90 winners were announced at this year’s event and special tributes were paid to JVN founding director Leonie Lewis, who died last year, with powerful speeches from members of her family. The Leonie’s Life and Legacy campaign launched in her name to promote volunteering through JVN has already raised close to £50,000.
