Our Manchester accountants work with businesses across the area, not only in the city itself but in Salford and Stockport too.
For those southern neighbours in Stockport, a new offer promises business rate relief to those who invest in upgrading their premises on the high street.
Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce reports that up to half of the total cost of improvement work can be claimed back as rate relief, to a maximum of £2,000.
Stockport councillor Iain Roberts said: “We understand the challenges many businesses face in improving their properties and we want to help.
“This scheme will not only help local businesses enhance the appearance of their premises and the high street as a whole, but also improve their value and ‘let-ability’.”
He suggests that the initiative could be particularly useful for larger firms, who might not qualify for other forms of business rate relief due to their size.
But companies will need to carefully weigh up whether or not the amount they will save justifies their own outlay of the remaining 50% of the costs.
Our Manchester accountants will be available to help with this, as well as any other enquiries relating to business property tax and other such costs.
