With the news that the north-west is among the hardest-hit regions in the recently announced British Gas price hike, Manchester accountants are on hand to help households reassess their outgoings, and make sure the money coming in is still enough to pay for everything.
According to Confused.com, the north-west will be one of the four regions worst affected, on average, by the 9.2% average increase in gas and electricity prices, due to come into effect on November 23rd.
Overall, the region’s average British Gas bill will actually rise by 10%, ranking just behind Yorkshire (10.5%), London (10.6%) and Scottish Hydro (11.2%) as the worst-hit customers.
Confused.com head of energy Kate Rose says: “British Gas are the largest supplier in the market and, therefore, this announcement will hit millions of households this winter.”
Switching supplier is unlikely to be of any long-term benefit, but if you can get on a fixed-price tariff before the major suppliers stop offering them, now may be a good time to do so.
