How Manchester accountants can support regional devolution

Manchester accountants serve an essential role for those who live and work in the city, helping with a wide variety of financial services and generally keeping things in order in monetary terms.
With an ever-increasing amount of regional control being handed to the city – most recently under the government’s plans to create a ‘northern powerhouse’ to drive the region’s economy – the role of Manchester accountants and similar service providers is only likely to grow too.

Speaking at an IPPR North event, John Cridland, director general of the Confederation of British Industry, says devolution is a real opportunity for businesses – and points to Manchester as an example of how that opportunity can be realised.

“Manchester itself is an obvious example where devolved powers meet [the criteria for clear leadership], complementing efforts towards jobs, growth and investment,” he says.

“We’ve seen strong leadership through Manchester’s Combined Authority, putting forward a clear, evidence-based case for how specific powers could unleash Greater Manchester’s potential to drive regional growth.”

In the years to come, as these powers continue to be granted to the region’s authorities, we will continue to provide accounting services in Manchester to help businesses and individuals alike to realise this economic potential.
