We were delighted to welcome colleagues from both RPG offices (Manchester and St Asaph) to the annual RPG Group Away Day which took place the Radisson Edwardian Hotel in Manchester. This is generally a learning day and this year the focus was on the RPG team itself, with a full afternoon dedicated to team building.
This year’s Away Day started with a presentation chaired by RPG Group Managing Director, Jonathan Brownson, with updates from all departments, and a review of the firmwide Technological Transformation project currently being undertaken, with a look also to future plans. This was followed a detailed update on the RPG Group People Transformation project with in-depth feedback from the RPG Culture Survey.
The event was attended by all members of the RPG team and we were delighted to be joined by several new team members including those who came in advance of their start dates which gave them a great insight into the firm and an opportunity to meet future colleagues.
The highlight of the day was the “Outside the Box” team building session which took over the whole afternoon. Each table of people was designated as a team for the afternoon, with a team leader and team members from a variety of departments between RPG’s two offices. The goal was to achieve as many points as possible by carrying out creative, physical, performance-related and mental agility tasks. Some challenges were focused on team tasks and others on individual performance with the overall activity demonstrating the advantages of team communication. In effect, there was something for everyone! See some of the photos below!
The feedback from the RPG team after the events was amazing!
“It was an excellent idea. I’ve never had as much fun in any teambuilding event ever – very well co-ordinated by the hosts.”
“Loved it – was actually really good & showed the value of teamwork.”
“It was different to any other team building sessions. It was very engaging and it gave us a chance to speak to each other and work out each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
“That was brutal fun operating under pressure, I learned a great deal – chiefly about trust!”
“It was great fun, but also a valuable learning experience – allowing me to solve problems, communicate with other team members, and work collaboratively. Just brilliant, so thank you!”
The whole day provided opportunities for us to meet with colleagues from different departments and offices, which makes it ideal to develop relationships and bonds. At the close of the session there was further opportunity to mingle and chat with a drinks and canapés reception.
RPG Group Managing Director, Jonathan Brownson, explains “The annual RPG Group Away Day is always a great opportunity for us to come together and learn more about the firm, our vision, ambitions and plans for the future. This year our focus was very much on our people as they are our most valuable resource. We want to provide everyone with the support they need in order to achieve their potential.”
Many thanks to the team from Bright Vision Events for running the activity for us!
