If you’ve just graduated in the north-west, you could soon find yourself in need of accounting services in Manchester – even if your career plans are fairly conservative.
Understandably, many graduates intend to join a big firm, and plenty probably also hope to stay there for a significant portion of their career.
Figures from Santander show just 9% of north-west graduates actually prioritise working for an SME – only London ranks lower, at 8%, while the ten other UK regions all make it into double figures.
Despite this, the north-west ranks just sixth in terms of the proportion of graduates who end up at an SME, which is 26% for the region as a whole.
As 36% of graduates do not start job-hunting until after they leave university, that could call for some hasty rethinking of your career plan – especially as 16% of 2012 graduates are still unemployed, up from just 5% of 2008 graduates.
Graduates tend to be intelligent and naturally innovative, so if you’re finding it hard to get a job at a big brand, consider SMEs or even self-employment – and whatever your working situation ends up being, there will be accounting services in Manchester to help you manage your finances.
